I am excited to participate in the 2018 SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. Run for Women in Support of Women’s Wellness Programs at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.
I was diagnosed with Schizophrenia in my early twenties, I didn't realize until a few years later how important exercise was and is in my recovery. I've been in recovery for almost 10 years and this illness taught me a lot about life, compassion and inner strength. I suffer from anxiety and ocd as well however I have learned to cope and live with my illness successfully.
I've done plenty of 5K's, one 10K, two half marathons, one marathon and one iron girl, and I don't intend to stop. I always tell people the only reason why I workout is for my mind, health and fitness are added benefits.
There are many other things that have made my recovery successful, but I want people to know that you can recover and you can live full, happy and healthy lives.
Thank you to St. Joseph's Cleghorn Program for assisting me in my mental health journey, I am an alumni of the program and will be forever grateful for everyone there. Let's run in support of women's mental health! And Thank you to Shopper's for doing this race in our community!
