I'm running in the Run for Women again this year. This run is near and dear to my heart as it raises money for Mental Health initiatives geared specifically towards women in my community.
I have dealt with Anxiety and Depression for almost a decade now. I overcame Bulimia when I was at school in Windsor. I still struggle with anxiety, depression and body image, but I have learned how to manage them so that I can live my life and feel full.
Maintaining and promoting positive mental health has become so important to me. I have had so many friends, family members and even acquaintances open up to me about their mental health struggles because they have seen how open I am about mine.
I believe in the power of sharing our struggles. I know how cathartic and transformative it can be to be vulnerable enough to ask for help and to reach out and help others.
I am doing this run and raising money to honour my own journey with mental illness and how far I have come. I am doing this run to honour those, friends and strangers, who we have lost to mental illness. I am doing this run to show others that being open and talking about what's going on in our minds is liberating and a sign of strength, not weakness.
I hope you will donate to this incredibly important cause that affects all of us and share this message with others.
I so appreciate your support - thank you for being such amazing friends and family
With love & gratitude,
