I am excited to participate in the SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. Run for Women in Support of Women’s Wellness Programs at BC Women's Hospital.
Exercise is the best way to manage mental health and thousands across Canada will join me to experience the healing effect of walking or running. Women’s lives are transformed one step at a time. Your donation will bring one woman one step closer to recovery.
I have a passion for Mental Wellness and am so excited to be running on May 9th in support of this cause for the second time. In June 2019 I ran the Be Fearless trail run in Alice Lake, Squamish in support of the CMHA STEPS program. This year, donations are going towards supporting young moms struggling with substance use. We know that addiction is a complex issue and requires a lot of support to overcome. BC Women's Hospital is currently providing an amazing program called Families in Recovery Combined Care Service. More information can be found on the BC Women's Hospital Pregnancy, Drugs & Alcohol page. Any donation will help them provide better care and a better start for these young families.
Although I don't know anyone personally who has required this service, I have had the privilege of meeting several wonderful young women during my volunteer experience at Cyrus Centre Chilliwack who would have benefited greatly from this program. I'm running to support these women and their precious babies.
I'm also running because I have close relationships with both family and friends who are struggling with mental health. Their struggle has been so severe that they have experienced hospitalization in the past. I know that everyone experiences "mental health" at various levels and improving mental wellness will benefit all Canadians. I want to learn as much about mental wellness as I can and I will continue to raise awareness. The more we talk about it, the more "normal" it becomes.
Thank you for reading and thank you for considering a donation.
