Through Covid and more than ever, we are being affected by mental health and illness. But - now more than ever, people are coming together to learn, understand, and help! Talking is so important and can't be underestimated - but funding for platforms helps reach so many! Please donate $5 or $10 or whatever you feel able to. If you can't, make sure to keep an open-minded ear where ever you go.
My personal story, simply put is: bipolar disorder type 1 since age 14 (diagnosed at 20). I can't explain how helpful family, friends, love ones AND PUBLIC HEALTH RESOURCES have helped me. It seems every time i tell someone I have this illness, they say "I never would have known."
This phrase is systemically derived from stigma, hitting on the point that people need to be informed. This is why I will be running (or walking) this September. Let's help those who need resources most access them :)
" |I'm excited to be joining thousands of walkers and runners across Canada in the first ever virtual Run for Women, brought to you by the LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart™ program raising help for women’s mental health programs at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences (Ontario Shores).
As many of us are experiencing, the COVID-19 pandemic is having a significant impact on our mental health. Our local charity needs our help more than ever so that they can continue to provide vital support and care.
Please consider donating to help me reach my fundraising goal. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to women’s mental health programs in our community. Together, we're going to raise some help. "
This run will raise money for the LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart Women’s Clinic at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. They provide short term, focused consultation and treatment to women with perinatal mood disorders and other reproductive issues that affect a woman's mental health.
