I'm pumped to be joining thousands of walkers and runners across Canada once again, raising help for women’s mental health programs.
Mental Health is important to me. I’ve walked down the road of mental health struggles and post partum anxiety and it can be dark and lonely, but with the right care and love and support, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. I am blessed with a beautifully supportive family and I was lucky enough to have great professionals help me with insight and care family and friends and myself individually, couldn’t ever provide as much as we all tried.
That’s why I participate in this event every single year - for my own physical and emotional well being through the training I do to run, and for other women’s wellness through the fundraising I do each year, alongside so many others. This time around, I’ll be training to run 10 kilometres in June 2024 at the in person event and 100 percent of my fundraising efforts will go to Ontario Shores hospital and women’s mental health inpatient and outpatient programs.
So what about joining my team and walking OR running 5 km or 10 km (in person or virtually) and fundraising for women’s mental health alongside me? Sounds daunting? If you decide to join my team, I’ll help train and prep you virtually through an 8-14 week walk or run (whatever you decide is best for you) program that helps you get ready for our June walk/run by training 3 times a week with a little walk or run. Please know, that you can do this, even if you’ve never walked 5 km or 10 km before or gone for a 5 km or 10 km jog. Let me know if you’d like to join and I’ll help you get all set up and ready. Also, you should know if you sign up, you get a fancy t shirt and an awesome swag bag!
Walking or running isn’t your thing? Please consider donating to help me reach my fundraising goal of $500 and team goal of $5000. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to women’s mental health programs through Ontario Shores.
Thanks so much,
Cara
