I'm excited to be joining thousands of walkers and runners across Canada in the 2021 Run for Women, brought to you by the LOVE YOU by Shoppers Drug Mart™ program raising help for women’s mental health programs at CMHA - Waterloo Wellington.
This year, I'm part of Team TAMCARE with some great family members and friends!
TAMCARE Home Health is a Kitchener-Waterloo based all-inclusive home care service here to help seniors age at home with dignity. Our PSWs and nurses connect you to your loved ones remotely each visit to ensure safety.
Here's to Strong Women: May We Know Them, May We Be Them, and May We Raise Them!
May We Know Them? I sure do!
My mom
My sisters, Julia and Rebecca, and my sister-in-law Jessica
My stepdaughter, Tamara
My nieces - Jordan, Emily, Aliah, Eva, Georgia, and Kate, and Michelle and Jacey too!
May We Be Them? I am!
My journey to becoming a mother wasn't easy. After a number of years of intervention to become pregnant, I had a pregnancy filled with sickness and exhaustion, followed by an emergency c-section and bumpy start to breastfeeding. I made it through that first year in a haze but returning to work as a whole other ballgame. After a few months, I came to realize that I was struggling with postpartum depression. Medication and therapy have set me up for success and I'm doing much better in all my roles, as a mom, a leader, and a community volunteer. I'd chock that up to being a strong woman!
May We Raise Them?
See list above!
It hasn't always been from the beginning of their lives, but what we know about building resilience in our youth is that it takes a village. What a privilege to be a part of their village!
100% of the funds raised will go directly to women’s mental health programs at CMHA Waterloo Wellington! I can't wait to see these funds in action to increase much needed support in the wake of COVID-19.
