I'm excited to be joining thousands of walkers and runners across Canada in the Shoppers Drug Mart® Run for Women, raising help for women’s mental health programs at Calgary Health Foundation.
Please consider donating to help me reach my fundraising goal. 100% of the funds raised will go directly to women’s mental health programs in our community.
Specifically, I am raising funds for the Calgary Eating Disorder Program: Eating disorders impact both the mind and body and require comprehensive care to treat both the physical and mental health needs of individuals with this condition. Eating disorders are more common than people may realize, impacting individuals of all ages and genders, however, it often emerges in adolescence and is most prevalent among young women aged 14-24.
The two priorities I support are:
Building a new dedicated inpatient unit at Foothills Medical Centre: The dedicated inpatient unit at Foothills Medical Centre will be the first in Calgary. This will increase the capacity from 6 to 10 hospital beds within a purpose-built unit. Combining psychiatric evidence-based treatment with medical interventions, the new unit will be designed to maximize recovery and ensure patient safety. While the patient age demographic is mostly 14-24 years old, this unit will be able to accommodate patients as young as 13 and as old as needed. It will include critical elements for specialized care, such as a community kitchen for observed shared meals and individual counselling spaces.
Expanding outpatient programs at Richmond Road Diagnostic Treatment Centre: To complement the new inpatient services, additional programs will be accessible on an outpatient basis at the Richmond Road Diagnostic Treatment Centre. Renovations to expand the existing eating disorder clinic will enable the team to add capacity that will help families with transition programming and navigation support as they move through treatment or need to reengage in treatment throughout their lives.
Every $ helps!
Thank you!!!!
