R.I.O.T. (Running Is Our Therapy)
Hi! My name is Eileen McDonald. I am a volunteer with Mood Disorder's Association of Manitoba and I am excited to participate in the SHOPPERS LOVE. YOU. Run for Women in Support of Women’s Wellness Programs at The Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba.
Before I began volunteering with MDAM, I was a frequent caller to their hotline. I had a family crisis and needed some help navigating myself through it. They were AMAZING. I then decided to take their Mental Health First Aid course, as well as sign up for their Peer Support course in order to become a volunteer.
I believe in this organization so much. It is extremely hard to find resources and help in the city. Hospitals, psychologists, and psychitrasts wait-times average about 6 months. This non-profit organization, MDAM, is here for the community. Every. Single. Day. It is an organization I hold very close to my heart.
That being said, exercise is one of the best ways to manage mental health. Thousands across Canada will join me to experience the healing effect of walking or running for this event on May 10th. Women’s lives will be transformed one step at a time. Your donation/participation will bring one woman one step closer to recovery.
